About this house rental
BYO Linen or Linen Hire Available. Fireplace not in use. Please do not use.
Originally built by Cornish immigrants Alfred and Susannah Rutter at the height of Moonta’s mining era, this unique cottage began as a humble bootmaker’s workshop and kitchen. Over time, it evolved with thoughtful additions, creating the warm and character-filled home you see today. Carefully restored in 2024, the property still pays tribute to its working-class origins while offering everything you need for a relaxing coastal escape.
Inside, you’ll find a spacious and inviting layout with multiple living areas, making it ideal for families, couples, or small groups. The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests, with a mix of original stone rooms and later extensions that provide extra space and privacy.
Enjoy year-round comfort with reverse cycle heating and cooling, and unwind in the sunroom or shared living spaces after a day exploring the coast. The blend of old-world textures and modern updates creates a cosy, lived-in feel that’s both unique and welcoming.
Located just minutes from Moonta Bay’s beach, jetty, and town centre, you’re perfectly positioned to enjoy everything the Yorke Peninsula has to offer — from coastal walks and fishing to cafés, shops, and local history.
Whether you’re chasing a quiet weekend away or a relaxed family getaway, **The Bootmaker’s Cottage** offers a stay that’s rich in character, comfort, and connection to the past.
