About this house rental
Perched over Whangapoua Village, this contemporary three-bedroom house is stylish and tastefully decorated with loads of amenities for easy living. It offers peace and serenity with stunning views overlooking Whangapoua, only a few minutes’ walk to the beach.
The house is on a very large North-facing property, bathed in natural light all day with breathtaking panoramic ocean views towards Mercury and Cuvier islands. Enjoy sunsets and sunrises and on clear nights the stars come out to play. The spectacular Pohutukawa, the New Zealand Christmas trees, are in flower sometime between early November and the end of December.
There are three bedrooms, all with ceiling fans, and two bathrooms; the master bedroom has a queen bed, a walk-in robe and a large ensuite bathroom; the second bedroom has a queen bed with ample cupboard space. Both bedrooms open directly onto a north-facing deck and enjoy magnificent views. The third bedroom has two king single beds, masses of cupboard space and a treed outlook. A spacious second bathroom includes a bath. There is a large separate laundry.
The fully equipped kitchen adjoins the dining and open plan living area which features a gas log fire. Both the kitchen and living spaces open to the large north-facing deck and the infinity lawn. Outside, there is a large table with seating for al fresco dining. Guests can set up the outdoor sofas and sun loungers as they please. A second deck at the rear is sheltered from onshore wind and has a gas BBQ.
Whangapoua, arguably one of New Zealand's finest white, sandy beaches, offers an abundance of activities, from swimming in the ocean or the more gentle lagoon, surfing, fishing (charters are available), cycling, walking, with access to the iconic New Chums Beach and local attractions.
Matarangi golf course, one of New Zealand's best-kept golfing experiences, is a short drive away. The local Coromandel Golf Course is a rural course run by volunteers.
Coromandel township was once the centre of the first gold rush in the 1850s and today, this charming town, rich in history, is worth a visit. The Driving Creek train, pottery and canopy zipline are popular attractions.
A 40 minute drive can take you to The Lost Spring Geothermal Pools in Whitianga. Highly recommend stopping in Kuaotunu at Luke's Kitchen for mussels or pizza.
There is a convenience shop at Whangapoua, however, we advise doing your shopping before you arrive. Pak’nSave in Thames is the last big supermarket before you arrive at Whangapoua; otherwise, the Matarangi 4 Square is excellent for meat and vegetables etc. or alternatively, Whitianga New World, Woolworths and Coromandel 4 Square.
Please bring your own Nespresso or Nespresso-compatible pods for the coffee machine.
