Carmen and staff were extremely friendly and helpful ! They treated you like family ! Reasonable walking distance from old town, so quieter area. Beds were excellent ! Room has terrace. Home cooked breakfast.

This is a general comment on Guanajauto. Accomodations here are MUCH more expensive than other Mexican cities (comparable to hotel chains in North America). We visited during the Cervantino Festival so rates went up almost double.

You certainly can find fancier hotels than this one but Carmen, the owner of this guesthouse is so lovely and welcoming, that you won't regret your decision to stay here. Although the rooms are basic, the bed was comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely private terrace off of my room; I found myself there most afternoons enjoying the view with a beer and a good book. Carmen makes breakfast for her guests each day and it's varied and delicious. In addition, she is super-helpful at arranging transportation, suggesting restaurants and generally givingg helpful advice about her city.

Owner & staff were extremely nice, house was older, if you like that sort of thing. Shower great water stream. Good hot, delicious breakfast, very accomodating.

House was extremely cold, if you cannot climb steep stairs, not a place for you, rooms a little old and water from shower gathers at feet. Don't do the recommended tours, you can do better on your own. Paid for the tours and we were not taken to half of the stuff on the tour (she just recommended, does not run the tour)
