    Title: Unacceptable Cigarette Smoke in a Non-Smoking Room — Very Disappointing Stay I booked a non-smoking room at APA Hotel Okhotsk Kitami, but my experience was extremely disappointing. The hallway outside my room was filled with a strong and unpleasant cigarette smoke smell. Even worse, the smoke odor was entering my room through both the ventilation system and the gaps around the door. This was not simply a faint smell in the corridor — it was affecting the air inside my supposedly non-smoking room. I reported the problem to the front desk and requested a room change. I had personally checked the hallway on the fifth floor and noticed that it did not have the same cigarette smoke smell. I explained this to the hotel staff and asked whether I could be moved there. Unfortunately, I was told that the hotel was fully booked and that changing rooms was not possible. No effective alternative solution was provided. The problem continued throughout the night and was still present the following morning. The only relief was that the window could be opened to allow some fresh air into the room. Guests should not have to rely on opening a window just to breathe fresh air in a non-smoking hotel room. I specifically booked a non-smoking room because I did not want to be exposed to cigarette smoke. What is the point of offering non-smoking accommodation if smoke can enter the room through the ventilation system and door gaps? This experience seriously affected my comfort and enjoyment of the stay. I was particularly disappointed that the hotel could not provide a satisfactory solution after I reported the problem. A non-smoking room should actually be free from cigarette smoke. This is a basic expectation, not a luxury. I strongly urge the hotel management to investigate its ventilation system, improve smoke control, and ensure that non-smoking guests are properly protected from cigarette smoke. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to travelers who expect a genuinely smoke-free environment.
