About this cottage rental

Follow in the footsteps of Deal’s station masters at this charming four-bedroom terraced home, located a minute's walk from the railway station. It’s in a central spot with the beach, seafront, shops and cafes all within 500 metres – fabulous for a car-free holiday with up to 2 dogs. History lovers will be in their element with three of Henry VIII’s finest artillery forts close by: Deal Castle (0.5 miles), Walmer Castle (2 miles) and the mighty Dover Castle (8 miles). For a city break feel, hop on the train to Canterbury (17.5 miles) for shopping, cathedral visits or catching a show at the Marlowe Theatre. Golfers will love the choice of local courses, including the prestigious Royal St George’s Golf Club (7.5 miles), host of the Open Championship. For outdoor adventure, Betteshanger Park (3 miles) sets you up for cycling and nature walks.

Step through the door and leave your coats in what used to be the ticket office – now a cheerful hallway with a quirky internal window and a desk for emailing if you need to. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating and a Smart TV, while a shower room with WC completes this level. Head downstairs to the kitchen/diner – great for family meals – which has a door out to the enclosed garden. There’s also a utility area with a tumble dryer and fridge/freezer. Back on the lounge level, another staircase leads up to four bedrooms – two king-size, a twin and a bunk room – and a blue-tiled family bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The top floor, tucked into the eaves, provides a quiet retreat with a king-size bed and a snug sofa so you can escape with a book (mind your head on the sloping ceiling!).

Outside, the sunny walled garden is a lovely spot for al fresco meals, with a patio set and charcoal BBQ. Parking is available just 15 metres away in the station car park (local charges apply).
