Across Ullswater, accessible via the Ullswater Steamer, you’ll find the Aira Force Waterfall (9 miles), a National Trust beauty spot in the pretty Matterdale Valley. Alternatively, hike along the water’s edge to Pooley Bridge to discover country pubs in this charming Eden Valley village, or take a short drive to Penrith (9.5 miles) for busier attractions and amenities.
