About this cottage rental

Formerly the gatehouse for Rendlesham Hall, this property is a one-off, Grade II-listed gem combining history and traditional features with contemporary design. Situated close to the wonderful villages of Orford and Aldeburgh in the stunning Suffolk countryside, the house is perfect for a group or family to enjoy the property as much as the area. The house is in the small village of Tunstall, just 3 miles from Tunstall Forest, where you can explore the trails that wend their way through this recently designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on foot with your furry friend or by bike. Food lovers will want to visit Orford (7 miles away), home to several exquisite places to eat and buy foodie treats, including an award-winning chocolate bakery and an oat-smoked fish specialists and Orford Ness. Set out on trips to discover the stunning coastline with its many gorgeous sandy and shingle beaches, bustling harbours, and colourful cottages, with the nearest beach just 4 miles from the property.


Steeped in history and boasting many of its original features, this modern holiday home has bags of charm and character. The ground floor has a large sitting room with comfy sofas, a wood burner and heaps of quirky features, a bright, modern kitchen, and a charming dining room with an amazing brick floor and more than enough space to seat six. There’s also a large sunroom with more comfy seating, and French doors out to the patio – the perfect place to relax. An elegant king-size bedroom is located on the ground floor, along with the shower room with a luxurious rainforest shower. Upstairs in the turret is the second bedroom – a large stylish king-size – and a second bathroom.


The property has a large outside space which is fully enclosed so it’s safe for dogs and little ones. There’s a big drive, a lawn, and a patio with garden furniture and a BBQ for enjoying drinks or meals al fresco, and lots of different areas and interesting features to enjoy.
