About this lodge
The cabin is a converted shipping container and although pretty basic, it is warm, comfortable and in a cool location. Its a bit like glamping with its basic kitchenette, outdoor hot shower and nice composting toilet. The kitchen has a fridge, toaster, jug, double stove top, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery - you should find everything you need. There is no microwave or oven.
Enjoy a unique home-made wood fired hot tub! It is just outside on the deck and although not flash it is private and amazing at night to soak in and gaze at the stars. We supply a box of wood to heat the hot tub. You can purchase more boxes off us for $10. Note, the hot tub is a repurposed chest freezer so it is well insulated. It is heated by solar during day and fire at night. It takes 1-2 hours to heat by wood fire.
The views from the container are pretty awesome. You can see over the ocean out towards Farewell Spit and into the western ranges. It is on a newly purchased property which we are regenerating back into native bush. We are still in the early stages of landscaping. It is usually quiet and peaceful, although we do have 3 kids being kids. Our family home is close by but you have your own private space and we won't disturb you.
