Dali Guiyue Shannabian Seaview Hotel (Erhai Shuanglang Branch)

I booked this on line based on: 1. The location as shown on this website. The map showed this to be in Shuanglang. But thats not correct. The location is around 7km further south from its stated location on the website. Its around 15-20 minutes drive south of Shuanglang perched very lonely on the side of a cliff 2. The facilities as shown on the website are not at this hotel, but at another hotel located around 100m further away. That includes the swing with the view and the swimming pool 3. The booking stated coffee making etc in the room, again this was not provided and not available when requested Upon arriving at this hotel, i immediately raised these issues with the manager whom attempted to shift blame onto Agoda. I kindly disputed this by confirming that the onus of accuracy of the advertising is with the hotel, certainly not Agoda. The manager offered me a partial refund as opposed to a total refund. I did not accept that and decided to remain since my time is more important that checking out and finding an alternative hotel. I would have wasted a day of my life and really wanted to enjoy Dali despite this inconvenience. So based on the above prelude, my assessment of the hotel is as follows: The bathroom contained mould and was not adequately cleaned or maintained. Same applied to the room in general. The ambience of the room resembled a prison cell consisting of concrete walls with a few random ornaments placed on the concrete shelving of the walls to appear as decorations. The door was broken and needed to be maintained, and despite the young staff member that attempted to fix it, it ended up doing it myself. Which is ok. i really don't mind The key drawback about this hotel is the location. Its literally in the middle of nowhere. Even the taxi driver said to me when he was dropping me off "Why are you staying here? There's nothing around". He was right. In hindsight I should have given him a bigger tip. There is nothing around this hotel that's of interest or. No restaurants, nothing to see and its on the side of a cliff with no access to anywhere other than the road out front. So a ride share is required to go literally everywhere. The prime photos used as the draw card to lure you into this website and AI enhanced and are not reflective of the reality of the hotel. The breakfast is average with limited options and the dining area has he personality and ambience of somewhere you would take your spouse if you wanted a guaranteed divorce. However, I do note, the kitchen staff and cleaning staff and front desk staff are wonderful beautiful people as is the young man that sold me a coffee each morning from the "sister" hotel located 100 down the road past the construction site that will make you wish you had noise cancelling headphones to block out the noise of the construction works happening during the day. Cheers to the coffee guy, he's awesome and makes a great coffee! The views are great. yes, and there is a outdoor area where you can have a nice view of the lake but you need to share the area with swarms of insects. I think they are mosquitoes so take some insect repellent with you

Booked this hotel for the nice view of Erhai and good review. However greatly disappointed when we saw the place firsthand. Though with a direct view , the hotel is on a small road away from Erhai and there is a lot of construction around. The staff seemed diligent but the room was really not clean and the room and the entire place is not ready for guest. Overall the experience is rather poor. Wonder why the high review score.
