Cabin in Tasmania
Reasons to book
About this cabin rental
Thoughtfully positioned to embrace its natural surroundings, the cabin invites the outdoors in while remaining conveniently close to the township of St Marys and just a short drive from some of Tasmania’s most celebrated East Coast beaches.
Inside, the space reflects a deep appreciation for craft, creativity, and place. The ceramics throughout the cabin have been hand-made by one of the owners, while the books have been carefully curated to celebrate Tasmania – its landscapes, stories, and spirit of adventure – offering inspiration for both quiet moments and future journeys. An indoor wood heater anchors the living space, offering warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to prepare a nourishing meal or a simple indulgence to enjoy slowly on the deck, surrounded by the sounds of the bush. Outdoors, a deep bath invites guests to soak beneath open skies, immersed in the landscape.
Evenings at The Bivouac are particularly peaceful. As night settles in, the soundtrack of the bush emerges – crickets in the grass, the gentle rustle of wallabies and pademelons moving through the undergrowth, and occasionally a possum on the roof. Guests may hear Burt, a well-fed local possum whose nightly wanderings have become one of the charming quirks of staying in the bush.
At times, there may be some distant road noise from behind the cabin. The double-glazed windows help soften this when closed, ensuring the space remains calm and comfortable.
While The Bivouac is designed as a place to slow down and unwind, complimentary Wi-Fi is available should guests wish to stay connected. Whether settling in with a book, enjoying the warmth of the fire, soaking under the stars, or planning the next East Coast adventure, the cabin offers a quiet and restorative base in the Tasmanian bush.
