We spent a wonderful week at Mallards Stable, Midlands Farm. Set in a picturesque village surrounded by charming thatched cottages, the stable looks exactly as it does in the photos and had everything we needed for a comfortable family stay. The outdoor patio is a real sun trap, although you do overlook your parked car. Caroll and Simon were lovely hosts, and the welcome basket was a thoughtful touch on arrival. The cottage is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. Seatown beach is around a 20-minute walk away via a country lane. For the quietest route with less traffic, turn right out of the property, then take the first left and follow Mill Lane. Seatown Slice serves the most amazing pizzas right on the beach, while our evening meal at The Anchor Inn was delicious. We’d also recommend The George pub for an evening meal. Felicity’s Farm Shop at Morcombelake is perfect for a light bite, picking up supplies, or buying local biscuits, cakes and sweets to take home as gifts. With sweeping views across the surrounding countryside and towards the English Channel, it’s also a lovely spot to stop for a coffee and take in the scenery. Charmouth, Lyme Regis and West Bay are all just a short drive away, and Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens is well worth a visit. A wonderful cottage, a beautiful location and the perfect base for a relaxing family holiday. We would happily stay here again!

A very small point: although there is plenty of shelving and hanging space for shirts and other shorter items, there aren’t any full-length wardrobes. However, there are hooks on the backs of the doors, so I simply hung my dresses there.
