About this house rental

Summary:

The Jacob Rabb House (circa 1851) sits in the prestigious Ansonborough neighborhood in the heart of the Historic District of Charleston. Walk to the city’s best dining and landmarks, then retreat to this elegant three-story home with a private walled garden and three off-street parking spaces - offering quiet luxury, privacy, and security for the perfect family stay.

The Space:

The Jacob Rabb House is a beautifully preserved 1851 antebellum “Charleston single” home in Ansonborough, just one block from Charleston City Market. It was the only masonry home of its kind to survive the Fire of 1861 and has earned the Carolopolis Award for historic preservation.

Fully renovated since 2018, the home features a private walled garden, gated parking for three cars, elegant living and dining spaces, a chef’s kitchen with La Cornue range, and four bedrooms with updated baths. Walk to Waterfront Park, King Street, galleries, and historic landmarks, then return to quiet luxury and timeless Charleston charm.

The property: upon entering via a 3-car gated drive into the private walled garden, you begin to experience the relaxation. The garden piazzas are perfect for viewing the horses and carriages just across the street. Let's go inside...

The first level of the home consists of a light-filled drawing room (also called the Morning Room in older Charleston days), a rustic exposed brick dining room that resembles a wine cellar, and a renovated kitchen with a luxury La Cornue gas and electric range, Carrara marble countertops, and custom cabinetry. The powder room is located off the kitchen.

On the second floor you will find the master bedroom (King Bed) and bath, consisting of a large shower, double vanities, and private water closet. There is a second bedroom with ensuite bathroom on this floor. With the second floor piazza entrance located just outside your bedroom door, you will be tempted to stay home and watch life go by.

The third level you contains two well-appointed guest bedrooms, both with Queen-sized beds, and a newly renovated hotel style full bath. We are confident you and your family will find our home to be exactly what you are looking for in a Charleston home.

The Beautiful home and the perfect location

Perfect location! Close to everything. House worked great for a girls trip with 8 girls. Beds comfortable! Wallpaper is falling off in living room and needs to be removed and replaced or painted. It really takes away from the beautiful living room. Sink on top floor had a leak that needs fixed. Overall, great though! Would definitely stay again!

The place looks gorgeous. However, the weather was chilly and the house was freezing in the primary room and 90 degrees in the top floor area. We spent a lot of time trying to manage having a basic comfortable temperature in all the rooms. It was disappointing too that such a gorgeous place was missing nice amenities. The provided towels were obviously new and unwashed. The toilet paper and paper towels were the cheapest kind. It would make a huge difference if the rental company provided a few nice amenities for this pricey, pretty old home. I would not stay here again.
