About this house rental
Casa Margret is located in the historic village center of Giumaglio, surrounded by
beautiful rustici and narrow alleys. The rustico features a spacious
entryway and a beautiful bathroom with a granite shower.
A living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bedroom with a view of stone roofs and mountains. One
large and one small balcony to soak up the sun.
Just 2 minutes from Casa Margret, a beautiful
waterfall invites you to swim and sunbathe. Five minutes away
is a long suspension bridge over the Maggia River, leading to
beautiful, peaceful spots. Walks through vineyards and
chestnut forests offer pure nature and fill hikers
with joy and renewed energy for everyday life.
Special Feature
Artist Livia Brusetti loves to treat guests to freshly baked bread and lovingly prepared Italian dishes, making the stay particularly authentic and warm. Some of her paintings adorn the cottage, and additional works of art can be viewed directly from her upon request.
Kitchen
Casa Margret features a fully equipped kitchen. For your first breakfast, homemade jam, honey, cheese, milk, eggs, tomatoes, coffee, tea, and juice are provided. Fresh fruit, pasta, rice, wine, and grappa are also available (these will not be restocked during your stay). There is direct access to the large balcony with a table and chairs.
Living Area
A rustic fireplace provides cozy warmth and a comfortable atmosphere. For musical enjoyment, a stereo system with a turntable is available
Work Oasis
The house is also ideal for those who want to combine work with a vacation. Upstairs, there is a large desk on casters that can be moved out onto the balcony as desired.
By public transportation:
Take the train to Locarno. At the end of the tracks, take bus 315 toward Cavergno.
Get off at Giumaglio (press the stop button for Coglio; otherwise, the bus won’t stop).
By car to Giumaglio:
From Locarno, drive toward Vallemaggia to Giumaglio.
Public parking spaces
There are blue, unrestricted parking spaces in the village.
You’ll need a parking permit for these spots, which can be easily purchased on-site.
You can pay for the permit right at the parking lot—simply scan the QR code using Twint or ParkingPay.
Excursions
The Maggiatal Valley and the surrounding region offer numerous opportunities for excursions and hiking. A wide variety of hiking maps and travel guides are available in the cottage. You can find insider tips in the guestbook.
Shopping
Shopping options and a post office are located in Maggia, about 3 km away. The Poncini bakery delivers fresh pastries to the village daily from Monday through Saturday at 8:15 a.m. Panettone can also be ordered in advance (the delivery van stops on the old village road before the climb up to the church).
Restaurants
In the surrounding area, you’ll find cozy restaurants and traditional “grötti” where you can enjoy authentic local specialties. Some of these places are even within walking distance and also offer a selection of vegetarian dishes.
