This is a little gem of a place - an uncut diamond waiting to be polished to a fine finish. Run by a very warm and friendly Alex, this place has just been operating for a couple of months. Changes are in progress, work is happening and Alex seems determined to produce improved accommodation for future guests. The location is great, a stairway to Lapa and to St Teresa is right on your doorstep. You might not even bother moving though because watching the skyline from the small terrace is one of Hostel Carioca's greatest treasures! It is a great place to stay and support a carioca like Alex in his very local enterprise. It won't be for those who are seeking deep, soft pillows and Egyptian cotton sheets but it is a lovely stay in a fledgling local business start-up. Good luck to you Alex and thanks for the stay!

Very nice in the middle of Santa Teresa very friendly host and great price value.
A little bit tricky to find but I got an upgrade to a single bedroom as an apology so not a big deal.
