Hotel Basen

We stayed at the hotel and the room itself was very nice with nothing to complain about, but the dining experience at the on-site restaurant was completely unacceptable and ruined our evening. The receptionist was also running the restaurant. When we sat down, we ordered grilled beef and grilled lamb. She called the kitchen to check if the beef was available, and after confirming it was, she came back 10 minutes later to say they actually didn’t have any beef, so I switched my order to lamb as well. We also ordered a traditional soup. When serving the soup, she explained how to eat it and brought two rolled flatbreads. After waiting a full hour, she returned to tell us there was no lamb either due to a refrigerator issue, and asked if we wanted pork instead. Hearing about the fridge trouble, I lost my appetite completely and declined to order anything else. My husband decided to give it a try and agreed to the pork. When the meal arrived, they also placed a plate of unrequested vegetables on the table (four slices of roasted pepper and half a grilled tomato). The pork itself was terrible—barely any meat, mostly just bones and thick, unedible fat. When the bill came, we noticed we were charged for two pork portions instead of one, for the extra vegetables we never ordered, and for the flatbreads that were presented as part of the soup service. If they had been clear from the start about what was available, we would have simply dined elsewhere. Bringing unrequested items to the table and adding them to the bill, along with incorrect item counts, is an unacceptable business practice. Highly disappointed with the restaurant service.
