Foz do Douro still feels like its own little village. Dripping down the steep hills of the city‘s waterfront all the way to the river mouth, where the Douro meets the Atlantic Ocean, the colorful houses are washed in the warmness of the light at sunset. Here you will find small quirky shops selling fishing gear, old-style grocery shops with local fresh produce and high quality gourmet products, as well as high-end unique fashion or interior design shops.
You can spend hours roaming the sidewalks bordering the mouth of the Douro river, from the historic tower and former lighthouse of "São-Miguel-O-Anjo", to the gorgeous "Passeio Alegre" with its lush greenery, and "Avenida D. Carlos I", outlined by its beautiful palmtrees, all the way until the Senhora da Luz lighthouse and the first beaches of the city and enjoy the unpredictability of the Ocean’s temperament.
This is a rather quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Public transportation is available in the form of buses and also the historic tram line, which connects "Passeio Alegre" to the old city center.
If you are traveling by plane, the best way to reach the property is by car. The apartment is 13km from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. If you have a rental car, please notice that there's free parking in the building.
Taxi or Uber are also possibilities to get to the apartment, but for a faster and easier arrival, book our Airport Transfer Service (subject to an extra cost).
￫ The property is Self-Catered. Complimentary basic items are provided for your arrival, including first-day toiletries, toilet paper, etc. These items are offered on a welcome basis only - replacements or re-fills are not provided.
￫ Bed and bath linen are provided according to the number of guests confirmed in the reservation. For stays longer than 7 nights, additional bed and bath linen will be provided for free at the check-in.
￫ The Cleaning Fee included in your reservation covers the check-out cleaning only. Extra cleanings or fresh linens can be requested during your stay and are subject to an extra fee - these requests must be done with at least 24 hours in advance.
￫ Check-in time starts from 15:00 to 22:00 (additional cost of 25€ for check-ins after 22:00). Only one set of keys will be provided.
￫ We are obligated by Portuguese law to collect our guest's Passport information.
￫ Check-out must be done until 11am. Before leaving, please place the keys on the main table.
￫ During the stay, the guest is responsible for the safekeeping and proper use of the property's keys. Please avoid leaving them in the lock or mailbox. In the event that a specialized technician is needed for door opening or in case of damage to the key and/or lock, the costs associated with this service will be the responsibility of the guest. In case of key loss, a penalty will be applied.
