The Almonds, Cebu
Stayed: July 10–12, 2026 (2 Nights)
Room: One-Bedroom Unit
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
We stayed at The Almonds for two nights and came away with a generally positive experience. It’s not a luxury hotel, nor does it advertise itself as one. Instead, it offers clean, spacious accommodations at a reasonable price. Like any property, it has its strengths and a few shortcomings, but overall, I think it’s a good option for travelers who value practicality and affordability.
🛏️ Room & Comfort – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The one-bedroom unit comfortably accommodated the three of us without feeling crowded. It came with one king-sized bed and one single bed, and there was still enough room for our luggage and to move around comfortably. The layout was simple but functional.
The only downside was that the bed in our unit was a bit squeaky and slightly uneven. We also noticed a loose cabinet hinge. These seemed more like maintenance issues specific to our room rather than problems with the hotel as a whole.
🏨 Facilities – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The hotel has a few amenities that made our stay more convenient. There’s a swimming pool for guests who want to relax, a working elevator, and a spacious underground parking area that can accommodate everything from motorcycles to larger vehicles like vans.
I also appreciated the small convenience store in the lobby. It’s a nice touch, especially if you need bottled water, snacks, or other basic essentials without having to leave the property.
📍 Location – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The location worked well for us. IT Park is only around a 5–10 minute drive away, and Gaisano Mall and nearby supermarkets are close enough for quick grocery runs or errands.
The biggest drawback, however, is the road leading to the hotel. It’s currently rough, rocky, and in poor condition. While it’s completely manageable if you’re driving, it doesn’t make for the best first impression.
Because of this, I’d recommend the hotel more for guests with their own vehicle. If you’re traveling alone and relying on public transportation, you’ll need to walk a short distance from the main road, and the alley leading to the property can be quite dark at night.
🔇 Noise Level – ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
This was probably the weakest part of our stay.
The walls don’t seem to provide much sound insulation, so noise from neighboring rooms can be heard quite easily. We could hear conversations, doors closing, and people moving around. Of course, this also depends on who your neighbors are, but better soundproofing would definitely improve the experience, especially for light sleepers.
🚿 Amenities – ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
The room provides the essentials, but don’t expect a full Airbnb setup.
There are no cooking facilities—no stove, cookware, or pans—so this is better suited for short stays rather than longer, self-catered trips.
The bathroom also only provides toilet paper. There’s no bidet, bucket, or dipper, which some travelers may miss. The trash bins are also quite small, though that’s more of a minor inconvenience than a real issue.
👏 Staff & Service – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
The staff were easily one of the highlights of our stay. Everyone we encountered was friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Service was consistently warm and professional, and they definitely contributed to making the experience more pleasant.
Final Thoughts
The Almonds offers excellent value for money. It’s spacious, affordable, conveniently located, and supported by genuinely friendly staff. While there are a few areas that could use improvement—particularly the soundproofing, minor room maintenance, and the rough access road—none of these were enough to outweigh the positives.
I’d happily recommend it to families, groups of friends, or anyone traveling with their own vehicle.
Would I stay here again? Probably, yes. If the access road is eventually paved and some of the maintenance issues are addressed, I wouldn’t hesitate to book another stay.
