About this cottage rental
A house for the Longleat deer keeper stood at this site from at least 1804. The earlier building was almost completely taken down and rebuilt in 1890 by local builder John Vallis of Frome to the designs of Longleat’s Clerk of Works, William Buckenham.
After ‘The Lions of Longleat’ opened as the first safari park outside Africa in 1966, the house was divided into two cottages to accommodate animal keepers.
