We recently stayed at Kanatal Orchids and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
We had booked a Deluxe Room online, but upon arrival we were shown a tiny cabin-like room that looked nothing like what was advertised. The room was extremely small and not suitable for a comfortable stay. When we raised the issue with the owner, instead of resolving it professionally, we were told that "you don't even get water at this price here." After a long discussion, we were finally shown the room we had originally booked, but were asked to pay an additional ₹1,000 per night as an upgrade. We felt completely misled and cheated.
The problems did not end there. There was no continuous hot water supply, and even the normal water supply frequently stopped. We had to repeatedly contact the staff to restore water, which was very inconvenient.
One of the biggest disappointments was the food. We had chosen this property partly because of the excellent food reviews online, but the reality was completely different. The food quality and taste were poor and ended up spoiling our overall experience. Service was also extremely slow. Despite repeatedly requesting early meals because we were traveling with a young child who sleeps early, dinner was served very late every day. Breakfast was also delayed and of equally poor quality. Only after multiple complaints did the dinner improve slightly, but the service remained slow.
Another drawback was that the property does not offer lunch or even basic snack options. Since the resort is located about 200 meters from the main road, getting food elsewhere after dark is difficult, especially because the path is poorly lit.
This was our first staycation where both the accommodation and food were such a letdown. The property itself has potential and offers good views, but poor management, misleading room allocations, inadequate facilities, and disappointing food completely ruined the experience for us.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone until these issues are addressed. What surprised us most was the large number of positive reviews online, as several guests staying during our visit shared similar concerns. We came here to relax and enjoy our vacation, but unfortunately left feeling frustrated and disappointed.
