If you're looking for something special—a vacation in a windmill!
The historic Venti Amica mill (Latin for “Friend of the Wind”), built in 1879, is a landmark of Föhr and is located on Mühlenstrasse in Wyk—a quiet yet central spot. It has had an eventful history over the years. Once home to the Föhr poet Stine Andresen, the mill is now privately owned. The old millstone still stands imposingly in the mill’s front yard, offering a glimpse into the arduous work that was once carried out there.
With great inspiration, it was completely renovated in accordance with historic preservation guidelines and stylishly furnished.
The mill can be explored across five levels. From the sauna with a large walk-in shower and relaxation area in the basement all the way up to the top of the mill, where there is a unique room with a living area and a large flat-screen TV. The modern kitchen with historic details, a large dining table and living area, as well as three bedrooms and two bathrooms, are spread across the remaining three floors.
A perfect symbiosis has been created between a historic building, which is a listed landmark, and a high-end living experience.
This naturally includes underfloor heating on all floors, powered by geothermal energy, as well as a state-of-the-art sound system in all living and sleeping areas, the bathrooms, the kitchen, and the sauna and relaxation area. The fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchen are by Dornbracht, which impress with their high quality and minimalist design, thus underscoring the blend of the historic and the modern.
Twice a year, the Venti Amica is open to the public. On German Mill Day and Open Monument Day, everyone has the unique opportunity to take a close look at the mill and marvel at it. The rest of the year, it serves as a special and unique vacation home for our guests.
