Visitor’s tax/lodging tax of the Hanseatic City of Wismar (5%):
The Hanseatic City of Wismar levies a visitor’s tax/lodging tax of 5% on the travel price of the booked accommodation. This is not included in the travel price and will be billed separately upon booking. Since the visitor’s tax/overnight stay tax is not based on the number of people, guests of the Hanseatic City of Wismar will not be issued a visitor’s card.

The vacation apartment is located in the historic Old Harbor of the Hanseatic city of Wismar, directly on the quay of the harbor basin.
With its spacious window front, the living room offers a panoramic view of the Thormann Granary—a historic building constructed in 1862 and listed as a historic landmark—and the so-called “Tree House,” which owes its name to the fact that the harbor entrance used to be blocked off at night for safety reasons using a long tree trunk laid across the entrance, and the Wassertor, Wismar’s last remaining city gate.
Behind the Water Gate, the view extends to the medieval Old Town, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring St. Nicholas Church, whose nave is among the tallest in Germany. The Poeler Kogge, a replica of the Poeler wreck built according to 14th-century shipbuilding methods, is moored in the immediate vicinity of your apartment.
This modern apartment with a maritime ambiance measures approximately 70 square meters and features two separate bedrooms, each sleeping two people, a tastefully decorated bathroom, and a spacious, light-filled living room with a balcony overlooking the Old Harbor. The kitchen is equipped with a stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave.
The apartment also features a washing machine, a dryer, and a storage area for bicycles. Parking spaces for your car are also available.
Walking along the harbor promenade, you can reach the Hanseatic Old Town in just a few minutes.

To this day, the people of Wismar celebrate the Schwedenfest every year in late summer.
Among the most important sights are the market square (one of the largest in northern Germany) with its Neoclassical town hall, the Renaissance-style Wismar Water Art, the famous Alter Schwede townhouse, and the Fürstenhof, a Brick Renaissance building, richly decorated with terracotta.
Around the market, the numerous superbly restored streets lined with gable-fronted houses ranging from medieval to Neoclassical styles invite visitors to stroll.
The medieval landmarks of the historic Old Harbor are the Wassertor (Water Gate) and the replica of the Poeler Kogge, whose home port is Wismar’s Old Harbor. There you’ll also find the treehouse with two replicas of the “Sweden Heads,” Wismar’s iconic symbols.
Filming for the silent film classic *Nosferatu* took place in Wismar in 1921. A shot from the tower of St. Mary’s Church overlooking Wismar’s market square with the water fountain served as the establishing shot for the setting of Wisborg. Other filming locations included the Wassertor, the courtyard of the Holy Spirit Church, and the Old Harbor.
The island of Poel, off the coast of Wismar, is perfect for swimming, long walks on the beach, or biking. The Wonnemar water park in the Hanseatic city of Wismar offers relaxation at the highest level with its extensive swimming and sauna facilities.
