About this house rental
The McSwiggan family has lived and farmed on the lands of Castleroddy since the 1700s. Their deep roots in the area run so strong that they were able to donate land for the construction of Castleroddy National School, which opened its doors to pupils in 1832. The school educated local children until 1959, when it returned to the McSwiggan family’s care. It has been lovingly maintained ever since.
The old schoolhouse still stands today. Located just across the road from Castleroddy House beside the bridge, it offers a rare opportunity to step back in time and imagine daily life in the 1800s. It’s a small but powerful window into the past, and well worth a visit during your stay.
While Castleroddy House is steeped in history, it also offers the comfort and convenience of modern living. With all the facilities you’d expect today—including a dedicated workspace with Wi‑Fi connectivity—it blends heritage charm with contemporary comfort.
Castleroddy is a truly magical place, shaped by centuries of family, farming, and community. We hope the warmth of all those generations helps you feel right at home.
