High ceilings, large sash windows and original fireplaces reflect its heritage, while modern furnishings add comfort and style, with subtle maritime touches inspired by the owners’ passion for rowing and sport. Just yards from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and moments from excellent pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and delis, everything Fishguard has to offer is quite literally on your doorstep.The ground floor features a highly practical boot room, perfect for storing walking boots, wet weather gear and outdoor clothing, after a day exploring the coastline. Stairs lead up to the main living areas, where you’ll find a beautifully designed open-plan space that is both welcoming and sociable. The outstanding kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, making it easy to cater for larger groups, whether that’s relaxed breakfasts or celebratory dinners. This flows through to a huge dining room with an impressive table that comfortably seats everyone, creating a wonderful focal point for shared meals.An elegant archway leads to the main sitting room, furnished with large, comfortable sofas and a cosy atmosphere enhanced by a double-sided wood-burning stove shared with the dining room. A small study area provides an ideal spot for remote working or quiet study, should you need it. For evenings in, the cinema room is a real highlight – complete with a fun Star Wars theme, it’s perfect for movie nights and relaxing together. This versatile room also doubles as the seventh bedroom, with a pull-down double bed.The bedrooms are thoughtfully designed and named after well-known Pembrokeshire seaside villages, adding a charming local connection to your stay. All are beautifully appointed with quality mattresses to ensure a great night’s sleep. Four bedrooms benefit from en-suite shower/bathrooms, and two offer rooftop sea views, a constant reminder of how close you are to the coast. The Whitesands bedroom is a spacious family room with both a double bed and a comfortable set of bunk beds.Abergwaun Cottage’s location is truly exceptional. Within easy walking distance of all that Fishguard has to offer, you can step straight onto the Pembrokeshire Coast Path to explore this spectacular coastline on foot, with the option of using the local bus service for a relaxing return journey. There is a sand and shingle beach just 5 minutes’ walk away in Goodwick or head North towards Pwllgwaelod, Cwm-Yr-Eglwys and Newport, set at the mouth of the River Nevern, an area rich in birdlife and wildlife with a stunning golden sandy beach. Travel West to discover the rugged cliffs of Strumble Head, renowned for seal and dolphin sightings, along with hidden coves and picturesque fishing villages such as Abercastle, Abermawr and the beautiful Pwllcrochan. While further on is Trefin, Porthgain and Abereiddy with the famous Blue Lagoon. Keen surfers should head to the fantastic Whitesands Beach, popular with beginners and professionals alike, while children will delight at exploring the rock pools. The UK’s smallest City, St Davids, with its magnificent Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace, is just a 20-minute drive away.Perfect for keen cyclists, the National Cycle route passes through Fishguard and offers a choice of circular routes to try.
