Highfield Terrace – Cosy Devon Retreat, Close to Beer Beach

Spacious accommodation, good facilities and almost everything we needed. Lovely surprise welcome prosecco and local sparkly elderflower champagne. Would definitely re-book again if staying in area, as once you know what is there or missing it would be much easier to plan for.

Simple things let it down. A simple A4 sheet explaining how to access everything would have been so easy to do. We did finally find the switch to power the oven/hob by ourselves, but still needed to ring up to work out how to access the wi-fi. Egg cups would have been nice, as would a spatula to fry eggs with. Worst thing however was that despite 3 loos there was not a single piece of loo roll in the property, but we got by with using tissue boxes until we could go to the shop in the morning to buy some. Knowing that it was going to be hot we emailed ahead to check if fans were available. No reply was received so we packed our own only to find that they weren't needed ...

Loved the location as it was so close to town and the beach, plus the house was exactly what we were looking for. Another great feature was the raised terrace at the top of the garden.

Could have done with a welcome pack with some local info in and maybe a guest book, but other than that, it was fab
