Finest Retreats - Old Town Cottage, Hastings

The location for visiting Hastings Old Town was perfect. It's a very quiet and charming old cottage, but just a minutes walk or so gets you to the high street and it's very close to the beach, and lots of attractions were in easy walking distance. The beds were comfy and once it warmed up it was a very pleasant stay.

We had a few issues, the cottage was absolutely freezing when we arrived with no instructions on how to use the heaters (which only come on overnight) and one was broken. It smelt very fusty too, opening all the windows for a bit helped the smell but not the temperature. There was no kindling for the log fire or tablets for the dishwasher that we could find. There was a dirty towel left in the bath when we arrived, and on the Bank Holiday Monday we were rung at 8am and again at 9am and had to let the owner in to put the rubbish out, even though we weren't due to leave until 11 and barely had anything anyway. They don't collect rubbish on a bank holiday where we are from! All easily solved for future guests I'm sure.
