The Hideaway

The house is spacious with 2 separate bedroom wings and an enormous dining area. Comfortable beds, nice bedding. Pool and outdoor area was enjoyed. It was winter so we did not use the air con. The house and outdoor area worked well for a group of 6 friends. But the lack of hot water was a big negative.

The reason for a low score of 6 is the complete lack of hot water. A very basic requirement! Especially on winter nights. The water that comes out of the hot water tap is warm, not hot. You cannot turn on the cold water tap as this makes the water cool. Low water pressure in the showers as a result. A hot bath was not possible. Showering was passable but if you were cold, it did not warm you up. I told the Property Managers right away but was told the plumber had said the hot water meets the standard. He must have very low standards. You can't charge a large rental sum and not provide hot water. The Hot water cylinder is a 2009 model that no longer has parts available, so the owners really need to instal a new cylinder large enough to supply hot water for a 5 bedroom house. Or advertise that the water is warm, not hot. I would happily rent this house again if a new cylinder is installed. And if the problem with the water pressure is fixed. There is a loud knocking sound in the ceilings, made by the toilets flushing, and the washing machine drawing water. Flushing the toilets at night disturbed our sleep. The water pipe is vibrating and banging against the timber or metal beams in the roof.
