Villa La Luxe Sanur

The privacy of the villa was really lovely.

It felt like almost everything came with an additional charge, including the bed decoration we were initially excited about for our honeymoon and even the safety deposit box, amenities that are usually complimentary at hotels.

Wonderfully comfortable bed with clean, fresh sheets. Good sized plunge pool. Airy style with open doors onto the courtyard. It has potential. The staff were sweet and responded quickly to our requests to the best of their ability.

The most inhibiting factor is the distance from the beach in Sanur. The ad for the villa says 2.1 miles from the centre of Sanur but it takes about 40 minutes to get there through the traffic. It’s in an industrial area and you need a car to get anywhere to eat or drink or swim. You must go along very congested and busy main roads to get to Sanur. You can’t walk anywhere from there. The complex has been cheaply built - it isn’t even finished yet, so there’s building debris and other refuse lying around. There’s a problem with the plumbing so the bathroom doesn’t drain properly and there’s a mouldy sewage smell coming from the drain if the plug holes are open. We had to ask for the floor to be washed and the pool to be cleaned when we arrived. The fridge was frozen solid and the freezer door broken so we had to thaw that and go out before we could get a cold drink. The kitchenette isn’t set up for cooking as it has only 1 soup pot and no knives. There’s also only one chair and we were informed by management that there was nothing else available. There were no pool towels so we had to use our bath towels for the pool and to mop the floor after. There’s no garden. The pictures of the proper and the glowing reports seem to be for some other property. The half a dozen staff, all young men hung around, squatting on the driveway and chatting for most of the day.
