One of 3 rental rooms, I think, in the house that the owners live in. The room was spacious, quiet, with a big sliding glass door onto our own deck, and a nice private bath attached. The owners were extremely kind and easy going, letting us store our bikes in our room, and they were fun to chat with, though their English was surprisingly poor. (They have lived in Vancouver about 30 years). The linen and towels were spotlessly clean.

1. Communication with the owners is difficult unless you speak Chinese. We were unclear where the house was, or how to check in, until a day before our arrival. 2. The location on the listing was completely inaccurate. It said Burke Street in Burnaby, and said they would send the exact address when we had registered and paid. When they did finally send us the address, it was 3 1/2 km away on Portland Street in Burnaby. We were hoping to be within walking distance of our grandkids. We also had our bicycles, but from Portland Street you ride up a very long steep hill to Metrotown which made riding difficult. There are no stores, services, facilities, trails or parks nearby, though Central park is about a 15 minute walk up that long steep hill. Please update your listing so that future guests aren't fooled like we were. 3. The facilities were poorly maintained and a little rundown, with paint flaking, slow drains, a light bulb out, etc. For example, the grouting has pulled out from the bathroom sink, but rather than repair it, they put a sign on the mirror saying that the counter is not waterproof, please clean up any spills. Everything works adequately, though, and it is inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. 4. The room cleaning was very poor. The daily use surfaces like the tabletop, bathroom counter, and top of the fridge were wiped clean. All other surfaces were covered with dust and grime, including the edge of the bathtub, all the window sills, and the corners of the room. You didn't want to walk barefoot on the gritty floor, though they provide slippers so that you don't notice. There were long black hairs stuck to the shower walls. You really didn't want to touch anything except the main surfaces. It seems that you get what you pay for, except for cleaning... We paid a $30 cleaning fee which they obviously don't spend on cleaning
