Stylish 2-Bedroom Air-Con Villa with Heated Pool

If you’re travelling to Watamu, Rafiki Tamu is honestly a dream. The water situation alone is 10/10. Deliciously warm and absolutely perfect for our two kids. It’s shallow enough for little ones to splash safely and build confidence but long and deep enough to properly swim lengths. The kids could play for hours while we actually relaxed or swam properly which felt like a small miracle. At night the pool is beautifully lit, soft and inviting. Plenty of shade during the day when you want it and sunshine when you don’t. What makes Rafiki Tamu really special though is that it feels like the best of both worlds. You get the privacy and ease of an Airbnb but the comfort and service of a hotel. Communication was smooth, check-in was completely stress free and any questions were answered quickly and kindly. It just made the whole trip lighter, the kind of rested you don’t always get on holiday. And then there’s the chef. Every morning we’d chat about what we felt like eating and he’d make it happen. Lobster curry, fresh seafood pasta, beautiful market fresh vegetables. The seafood and produce were bought daily and you could genuinely taste the difference. Some days we ate out, some days we stayed in because honestly why wouldn’t you when the food is that good? One of my favourite memories was the kids helping to make chapati in the kitchen, flour everywhere and lots of laughter. The house itself is not overly polished or staged. Just warm, calm and welcoming, like arriving at a friend’s beautiful coastal home. Everything carries that relaxed Kenyan coast charm. Inside, it’s incredibly comfortable. Properly comfortable beds, clean and well kept bathrooms and a kitchen that actually has what you need, plus an excellent laundry service. Nothing feels random or thrown together and you can tell real thought has gone into making guests feel at home. The location is another huge plus.
