We stayed here over Easter as a family meeting point halfway between Kerikeri and Tauranga, and overall it worked well for that purpose. The location in Dairy Flat was handy and nice and quiet, and the property was spacious enough to comfortably fit our family group. The large rooms, high ceilings, multiple bathrooms, easy lockbox access, and good communication from the hosts were all big positives. It was a great place to catch up, relax, and spend time together.
There were a few things that could be improved. Some of the beds were very firm and not especially comfortable for all guests. The spa bath in the ensuite seemed like it may not have been used or cleaned through the jets for some time, as debris came out when we turned it on, so we didn’t use it again after that. The exterior of the house also looked a little tired, with some dead plants and signs of wear. Inside, the kitchen was functional but a bit confusing to navigate at first, so labels or a simple guide for cupboards and drawers would be helpful. A few extra basics, such as more towels, more toilet paper, a practical place to hang washing, and clearer access to cleaning supplies, would also improve the stay.
Overall, it was a good-value option for a large family group and suited our purpose well, but a little more maintenance and a few practical touches would make it even better.

The property is very spacious.
There's a small airport nearby; the noise from planes taking off is quite loud during the day, but thankfully it's very quiet at night. The room amenities and garden were poorly maintained.

Stunning and very large home and location was perfect for what we needed on this holiday.
Beds were very hard and uncomfortable, making it very difficult to sleep. Also, bedside lamps were in all rooms however they were of a different power socket (not NZ) so we couldn't use them. Also the kitchen facilities are quite sparse for such a large home that would attract a large group. Not sure if things were missing from previous guests but it would be good to check inventory.
