We had a fantastic stay at Palazzo San Gottardo and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Como. The location is outstanding. It’s within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal, the funicular, both train stations, and the main sights and streets of Como. Even better, there are excellent gelato spots practically on the doorstep — which, for us, was an important bonus! It made exploring Como incredibly convenient, whether heading out for a day around Lake Como or simply wandering around the city. The room was fantastic — enormous, beautifully clean and extremely comfortable. There was plenty of space to properly relax and unpack, which made a big difference compared with many European hotels where rooms can feel quite compact. The amenities were also excellent, with everything you could reasonably want for a comfortable stay. The breakfast deserves a special mention as well. It was genuinely excellent, with a great selection and very high quality. It was the kind of breakfast that made you want to take your time rather than rush out for the day. But what really made our stay special was the service, particularly from Mirella. On our first morning, we were in a rush to make our ferry and mentioned this to Mirella. She immediately took it upon herself to make sure everything was organised quickly, ensuring we received all of our orders without having to worry about the time. She even thoughtfully packed pastries for us to take with us so we wouldn’t miss out. That level of proactivity really stood out. Throughout our stay, Mirella was consistently warm, attentive and welcoming, always greeting us with a genuine smile and anticipating what we might need before we even had to ask. She made us feel genuinely looked after rather than simply being another guest. Mirella is a wonderful representative of the hotel and deserves special recognition. Her warmth, initiative and attention to detail added a personal touch that made an already excellent stay even more memorable. Overall, Palazzo San Gottardo combines a superb location, beautiful and spacious rooms, excellent amenities, a fantastic breakfast and, importantly, genuinely caring service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to Palazzo San Gottardo on our next visit to Como.
