Charming Apartment in the heart of Le Marais

it’s in Paris. It’s the Marais. There weren’t many cars on the street. The bathroom was ok - spacious, ok shower, good towels.

We didn’t love this place. For a start, there’s no lift, which we knew, but it’s up three flights of a very narrow and uneven spiral staircase which requires considerable strength and agility if you have even normal sized suitcases. Second, it’s very small. the bed takes up the whole bedroom and If you are using the sofabed as well there is virtually no space to put luggage. Third, there is no hanging space whatsoever so you are reduced to draping your clothes on the furniture or beds or putting them away in your suitcase. Fourth, the kitchen is shoddy and poorly designed such that the cupboard doors are tricky to shut and you have to duck your head to turn on the tap for the sink. Fifth, there’s an awful lot of street noise from people partying, shouting etc throughout the night. the soundproofing between the floors is not so great either. there’s no room I could see for a cupboard, but they could at least put some hooks on the walls or a stand or something, and some hooks in the bathroom for towels. it seemed expensive for what was on offer but maybe they can get away with it in the Marais. it might suit a single or couple with not much luggage. Although there is a sofa bed as well, don’t even think about trying to fit more than two people in there.
