Emden, the largest city in East Frisia and a seaport, is located in the heart of East Frisia.

Well-known tourist attractions, such as the East Frisian State Museum, the Emden Art Gallery, the museum ships in Ratsdelft, and the OTTO-Huus, can be explored on guided city tours or informative canal and harbor cruises.

Our vacation rental is located in the former service wing of the Houwerda family’s ancestral home and sits on a pier in the upscale Emden neighborhood of Wolthusen. Built around 1850, this part of the building housed the village bakery and a general store. The restoration took place from July 2019 to December 2025.
In our vacation rental—which has been lovingly and meticulously restored and furnished to a high standard using eco-friendly building materials, natural lime, eco-friendly insulation, and mineral-based paints—has been stylishly and individually restored and furnished with a unique flair, you can enjoy a journey back in time with a historic atmosphere while still enjoying all the modern comforts of today. You’ll sleep on high-quality Emma mattresses with bed linens from Wolkenfeld. The bedding is also suitable for people with allergies; there is underfloor heating and fiber-optic internet with Wi-Fi.
Warfendorf Wolthusen is just a 15–20-minute walk from downtown —right on the Ems-Jade Canal, next to the Kesselschleuse (Europe’s only structure of its kind), along the early city fortifications, and the Emder Wallanlagen, now a recreational and green space.
The train station is approximately 3 km away. Grocery stores and other shopping options are within 600 meters.
Bedding and towels are provided for your initial stay and are, of course, included in the price. The accommodation price also includes the 3.5% overnight stay tax payable to the city of Emden. No security deposit is required.
Our three vacation apartments, located in a complex, each with a separate entrance, can also be rented together, each accommodating 2 people.
