About 1.5 km away is a long sandy beach. Thanks to the nearby motorway, it is possible to reach every site of interest in Salento. Lecce with its baroque is only 40 km away. Otranto on the other side, the Adriatic, 45 km. Gallipoli is only ten minutes away by car. A few kilometres north of S.ta Maria al Bagno is the wonderful natural park of Porto Selvaggio with 400 hectares of pine forest and 7 km of breathtaking coastline. There is also a museum in the village that collects the testimonies of thousands of Jewish holocaust survivors who passed through S. Maria al Bagno between 1943 and 1947.
