I’ve been living in Japan for 3 years and stayed in many ryokans. Sakamotoya was by far the most memorable stay. Of course being a Muji House makes everything look beautiful but Sakamoto-san himself is the star here. From the moment he picked us up at the station, the attention to all our needs, the delicious breakfast and dinner cooked by his mom. We are thankful for the opportunity to stay there and wish this beautiful family prosperity and health.

Prime location, very clean! This room has washing sink in the room and with a lovely terrace surrounding with cherry blossom trees. Room is also spacious and with great daylight. Hosts is very friendly.
Need to climb 2 levels to main floor, However we love the room’s setup.

The hotel is absolutely lovely - very nicely decorated rooms and dining area, as might be expected from a MUJI location. The dining room and our rooms had incredible views, with cherry blossom trees right outside our windows. The host was very friendly and helpful, and really made us feel at home. The included breakfasts were delicious. The location was great, offering a good base camp for exploring Yoshino. Definitely one of the big reasons why our trip to Yoshino was so memorable.
Not really a downside, but be aware that you'll be sharing toilets and bathrooms. The big bathroom has to be booked in advance.
