About this cottage rental

Just an hour and a half from Glasgow, but in gorgeous coastal scenery, step into the Old Barn at Ormidale, where contemporary style and comfort meets rustic charm. Designed for groups of up to 12 adults, the house offers the perfect balance of shared and private spaces. The highlight is the generous open plan travertine marble floored reception space, where four comfy sofas and enormous TV at one end blend with the French oak dining table next to the exposed stone wall at the other end. An arch in the stone wall leads into a beautifully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. Families and groups will love the separate large kids' TV and playroom, with additional sofabed. This flexible extra room gives children (and grown-ups!) their own space to unwind, play, or enjoy movie nights. When you're ready for more fun, head through the French doors to the seven seater hot tub or next door to the wee two storey games cottage housing ping pong and pool tables, plus a dart board.

Upstairs, the bedrooms offer comfort and calm, five with private wash-hand basins, all with luxurious beds and bedding, built-in storage, and tranquil woodland or mountain views. With underfloor heating throughout both floors, powered by eco-friendly ground and air-source heat pumps, the Old Barn stays warm, cosy, and comfortable all year round. The house boasts three elegant bathrooms, natural stone floors, and your own private sauna on the ground floor as well as the large hot tub, outdoor seating and BBQ area.

Old Barn is child-friendly, pet-friendly, stylish, and exceptionally well equipped—the perfect base for unforgettable holidays in a spectacular setting.

There is plenty to keep adults, teenagers, and children active on the 22 acres estate, including a tennis court, a football pitch, a sunken trampoline, a range of bicycles, and acres of woodland to explore. The estate sits less than a mile from the top of Loch Riddon in the Kyles of Bute, surrounded by year-round gorgeous scenery and a perfect base for walking, cycling, swimming, sailing, fishing, riding, stalking, and golf. A huge variety of birdlife, red squirrels and deer are amongst your fellow residents, and the night skies are utterly spectacular.

Ormidale, in Glendaruel on the Cowal peninsula, is a stunningly beautiful coastal area with wooded hills, beaches, lochs, islands and open countryside. The location is perfect for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities or just exploring the wild natural landscape, but still gives easy access to the nearby historic towns of Dunoon, Rothesay, and Inverary. Loch Lomond is a stunning 35 minute drive away. The adjacent village of Colintraive provides quick ferry access to the Isle of Bute, while the ferries from Portavadie will take you across to Tarbert, the Mull of Kintyre, Campbeltown and the islands beyond.
