Monarto Safari Resort

Hotel was very nice, great view overlooking water hole, need binoculars to really see animals from room but these are provided. Room spacious, clean and great quality. Restaurant, bars and pools also great quality. Only eat breakfast, great buffet with ample choice. Only disappointment was the check in time of 3pm which in my opinion is late and room not actually ready until past 3:30pm. Booked on sunset safari with meet up time of 3:30pm, so unable to access room until arrived back around 7pm, left case with friends in another room but could have left with reception staff. The wait was annoying as an hour drive to get there and would have liked a little time before the safari to refresh and recharge in room. Sunset safari was great, a bit disappointed that other animals such as lions and elephants on a separate tour in another part of resort but Sunset Safari still good value for money. Overall had a great overnight stay with friends and would recommend, definitely need to book waterhole room otherwise view of the car park!

Very pleasant experience

on arrival the staff were exceptional when checking in, our dinner in the restaurant was faultless, food exceptional and service was "A1". Buffet breakfast was extensive, although service seemed to a little understaffed. Overall rating 10+

We arrived in our waterhole room view and were greeted by amazing site of beautiful giraffes which was amazing. But that’s where it ended. The room was definitely no more than three stars and looked way older than six months old. The carpet was frayed and had started the pull and wearing, the table was full of wine stains. The seats on the balcony were unusable as when you sat down it actually pressed painfully into your legs. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and we were the only ones there. The fellow who drove the bus for our sunset Safari was amazing again, that’s where that ended. We expected to see lions and all the other animals at Monato but then were later advised that that was not part of Monato even though we booked everything through the Monato website and of course on Agoda. The sunset tour was $135 each when you can go to Monato for $50 and see all those other animals we were given some dried up bits of meat and a few peanuts for our snacks. The drinks were good. We saw lots of antelope type animals, three rhinos two hippopotamus, lots of giraffe and some zebras and it was great and we also saw cheetahs. However, we really thought we were going to see all the other animals at Monato Safari park but we didn’t even go there… we very sadly disappointed. The overall experience was definitely no more than 3 1/2 star and it was definitely very poorly appointed rooms and when we woke up in the morning to hopefully see all these amazing animals of the waterhole it was full of ducks only LOL you can’t help nature though! If we had paid $300 for the whole experience we would’ve been thrilled to bits but we didn’t we paid $900 and I feel that was way overpriced for what we got .
