GuestReady - Classy retreat with river view

Lovely spacious apartment. It stated "river view", but that is only is you crane your neck around the balcony! The view is of other apartment blocks, which is fine but the description is misleading. Beds were great, decent showers, hotwater etc. and all very modern. Aferardo is a lovely "local" village, just a 10min stroll down the hill, and has some great fish restaurants. Most of them don't open until 7.00pm as it is very much a locals village. We could not find a shop selling groceries anywhere in the village, just a couple of watering holes and restaurants, but very friendly, most were good value and the fish was fresh!

The ventilation system was not switched on or not working, and although we did not need air cooling, it would have been nice to just have some fresh air movement without having the various patio doors open 24/7. This gave a great through draft, but the inner doors had to be propped open to prevent them from slamming shut with the breeze! Very modern sinks in the bathrooms which had a "plate" type of waste cover and the sinks did smell somewhat. When I lifted the plate it was black with mould underneath and is rarely or never cleaned. The cleaners may not even know they are removeable covers! None of these are a massive issue, just letting you know. The only other issue for us was the lack of local fascilities for groceries, milk, bread etc. We arrived in the evening and after googling supermarkets, the closest seemed to be Lidl, which was a 5 euro uber ride each way. Needless to say we stocked up for the week there and then. OK if you are expecting that, but a bit of a nuisance if all you want is a cup of tea! We would have appreciated some info in the apartment regarding buses, shops etc.. There was no local information at all, or even some long life milk in the fridge would have been nice. Not everyone has their coffee black!
