This is a spacious and comfortable apartment in an excellent location. It is a walkable distance from the train station (although the walk is definitely uphill) and is located on a quiet street, very near the city centre. The building is quiet and secure. We very much enjoyed staying there. We never met the manager (Coco) but she was easily reachable by e-mail. I was nervous about collecting the keys from a keybox but it worked. We booked for two people for 10 days but our son joined us for the last few days, and we were not charged any extra fee for a third person, which we appreciated very much. The apartment is well laid out so the two bedrooms have privacy, and the beds are very comfortable. It was very helpful to have a washing machine and the drying rack over the bathtub so we did not have to spend time in a laundrette.

This is a lovely apartment that would be truly excellent with a few more finishing touches. From the decor, it's clear that the owner lived there a long time and moved out only recently, and some things need to be updated. For instance, the wifi router was unplugged when we arrived because a floor lamp was plugged into the socket to give light over the dining room table--since there is only one socket, one cannot have light and wifi at the same time. A power strip would be an easy fix for this problem. In the kitchen, there are a great many cooking utensils that most people won't use (some I couldn't even identify) but only a couple of frying pans and one pot which was too small to boil pasta for 3 people easily. We also could not find any scissors in the kitchen, which made opening packets difficult. It would be good to have some information about the area (recommended restaurants, location of grocery stores and pharmacies, etc.) provided in the apartment as is usual in vacation rentals. It would also help to have instruction manuals, for how to adjust the heating, how to operate the washing machine (I looked that up online), and so on. It would also have been good to know ahead of time that we could check out later than 11:00 a.m. for a fee; we took the early train to CDG (7:00 a.m.) because we did not know that we had the option of a late check-out. Had we known, we probably would have chosen to spend most of that day in Poitiers and taken an afternoon train to CDG. These are all small details, but attention to them would raise the apartment to a truly exceptional level. One thing that would be harder to address: the bathroom is oddly laid out. Clearly the walk-in shower was added relatively recently, but that means that it would be very difficult to use the bathtub if one wanted to, since the shower blocks about half of the tub.
