Aviemore is known as the playground of the Highlands, there is so much to do for all ages… and abilities. From zip lining, mountain biking, skiing, climbing, go karting and quad biking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, hill walking, sailing, gorge walking, lying on the beach… we're sure there will be something for you.
The famous Landmark Adventure Park is just outside Aviemore and well worth a visit with the whole family, and some of it is open all year round. Another family favourite is visiting the Polar Bears and the other beautiful animals at the Wildlife Park.
Even just taking the dog for a walk can be a discovery. Explore the trails through the ancient Rothiemurchus forest, around the wonderful lochs and lochans, or into the foothills to discover a bothy or a breathtaking viewpoint. There are walks for all levels, so you can high and long, or gentle, low and easy… but you will not be disappointed.
And of course, after a day exploring, you will discover all the wonderful places to stop for coffee and cake, a pub lunch, or a long dinner over wine. The surrounding towns and villages around Aviemore, also have a wide variety of things to do and places to refuel. We are more than happy to pass on all the information you need to make sure you get the best from your holiday in the highlands.
Kids
We know that often the first things kids ask is “What’s the wifi code?” But there is so much on offer for kids that hopefully you’ll won’t need the code!
There are plenty of trails around for easy low level mountain biking. A great family one is to follow the Old Logging Way up to Loch Morlich. You can then go all the way around Loch Morlich before heading back into Aviemore. Or you can head out the other way on Route 7 and do the low level cycle right through to Boat of Garten. If the kids are a bit more adventurous on the bikes, then Laggan Wolftrax is just south of Aviemore and offers some get downhill trails and a cute cafe in the carpark for a well earned cuppa and cake.
Other brilliant activities for kids include the zip line park just south of Aviemore, and Treezone at Rothiemurchus. There is also tennis, horse riding, segways, go-karting, indoor soft play and a whole bunch of activities to enjoy on the water at Loch Insh and Loch Morlich. Landmark Adventure Park, the Reindeer Centre and the Wildlife Park are always a big hit with the kids too.
After all this, you’ll be ready to head back to the lodge to relax in the hot tub, get the BBQ on and start planning the next day’s adventures.
Dog Friendly
We welcome well-behaved dogs, so please include any dogs in your booking (there is a charge for dogs). We ask that no dogs are allowed in the bedrooms and kept off the furniture. Please also ensure that dogs are supervised when on the grounds and are not allowed onto neighbour's grounds. There are so many walks right from the front door, down to the River Spey, over onto the golf course or along the cycle path. There is a tap outside the kitchen door if you need to give pooch a rinse after a muddy walk.
