A 400m del Paseo Marítimo

The kitchen was big and fully kitted out. So nice to see in a holiday let. The flat was comfortable, in a good location and the price was low, although perhaps that was because of the building work and all the things that were broken...

The key safe system was broken when we arrived so the owner told us to go several miles away to pick up the key from a petrol station across town. When we said we were a family travelling by bus they said we could get a taxi and keep the receipt and they would pay for it. I'm still waiting for the money... Not an ideal way to start a holiday... Then the internet was down so I had to go and buy a Spanish SIM card to do my work meetings. Not only that, but the owner asked me to wait in for the technician to come and repair it which took hours, in the winter, with the door open so it was freezing. They had to drill a hole through the wall and left me all the mess to clean up. They kept asking me to sign off the work but I kept explaining that they had to phone the owner because it wasn't my flat. I speak fluent Spanish so this wasn't a problem, but it was very stressful when I was trying to work! Then after the technician left, an angry neighbour hammered on the door and shouted at me that all the cables the technician had put in that morning had to come out because they should have been cut into the wall in the hallway, and that he was disconnecting the WiFi immediately because he was going to rip it all down. Again, I had to explain that I wasn't the owner and that they should contact them and leave me in peace. It also meant that we couldn't watch the TV at all which the kids had been looking forward to. We had been planning a movie night. Then at night I was cold and I found some big blankets in the wardrobe but they had suspicious white stains on them. I didn't want to think about that cause I was cold and it was late at night, but I messaged the owner about it and they asked me to wash them... Even though they were too big for the washing machine and no laundry liquid was provided in the flat, and the blankets should have been clean!! This was pretty disgusting.
