About this apartment rental
An ancient cave house clinging to the rock face of San Matteo Hill, renovated and expanded to create a sanctuary where one can forget the outside world and immerse oneself in the memories and history of the place. Casa Corto Maltese features a secret, fenced-in garden—shady and secluded—with two ancient caves and a terrace overlooking the entrance, from which the entire town of Scicli can be seen. Marco Steiner’s novel *Il Corvo di Pietra* (The Stone Raven) took shape within the rocky walls of this house.
Guests have access to every part of the house, including the inner garden and the outdoor veranda.
A few dozen meters from the house, there are both free and paid street parking spots. The house is located on a hill above the town center on San Matteo Hill; the town center, with its shops and restaurants, is a 5-minute walk away. The nearest beach is 10 km away and can be reached by car, but for the more adventurous, it’s also accessible by bike—we can recommend some wonderful little roads.
