Hillwood, located approximately 25 mins north of Launceston, and a further 20 mins to the town of Georgetown and historic Lowhead. Previously a traditional orchard area with links to farming and agriculture, today the area boasts quirky rural style wineries, local farmgate fruit stalls, fishing and boating, walking trails and the impressive Hillwood Berry Farm, where you can hand-pick your own produce.
Located close to the banks of the magnificent Tamar River, you will find our purpose built retro style, low level, wooden, ‘Apple Shed.’ With two bedrooms, modern bathroom, laundry facilities, open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area it is the ultimate relaxing getaway. Adding to the comfort of our guests there is a wood heater and reverse cycle air-conditioner. Outdoors, enjoy your own private spa on the open deck, providing scenic views across the river and beyond, or sit and relax indulging in the simple pleasure of a fine wine or a morning coffee

Very enjoyable stay at the apple shed, beautiful views, warm and cosy home away from home, lots of nature, bird life and wallabies around the property from the late afternoon, awesome walks along the river front with our furry family, close to wineries, local berries , apples and pears. Loved our extended stay and wouldn’t hesitate to have a return visit to this wonderful property.

Heather is a great host, spa was a delight and highlight...wood heater had us opening doors to Cool down. Very light bright and welcoming. Kitchen very well equipped and there were snacks to choose from too!! quiet location private and easy to find! I'll be back :)

What a beautiful little gem! So much care and attention has been put into curating this home away from home….. loved the record player and coffee and spa and treats and recliner chairs and kitchen cooking pots and pans and gluten free bread etc…..Just sorry we could not stay longer.

Everything about this stay was perfect!!! Heather provided us with everything we could have possibly needed and it made for an incredible first night in Tasmania. Highly recommend!!!
