About this house rental

Please feel free to write if you have questions. Unlike Chincoteague, this is a rural setting - the neighborhood is eight houses along Metompkin Bay. But it's an easy half-hour trip to Chincoteague if you'd rather go to the beach there. Our beach is a 15-minute kayak trip away (there are five kayaks included in the rental, paddles, and various size life jacketsl). There are also lot of little creeks in the marsh to explore by kayak. If you have a boat, there's a public boat ramp close by.

Our neighbors often fish in the bay, and surf fishing is great at certain times of year. We have crab traps - the crabbing is pretty good off the dock. If you are plenty of birds to watch for the birders. Onancock (10 minutes away) is where we go for nice restaurants and charming little shops. Lots of other attractions are shown in this listing.

We have three decks - two on the water side and one on the land side, in addition to a screened porch - lovely views in all directions. The house is almost all windows on the water side, to take advantage of these wonderful views. The living room/dining room/kitchen is open plan and on the water side of the house. A bedroom, bath, and second bedroom/TV room are on the road side of the house. The bathroom houses a washer and drier that are hidden behind doors. The master bedroom, (loft) and bath occupy the upstairs, and have an even better view of the marshes, bay, and even a glimpse of the ocean! The bottom floor is a garage, and has a laundry sink and extra refrigerator.

The place was so outstanding that this was our second stay. We wanted to return for several reasons. The host was wonderful, very accessible and friendly. The home has a unique and open design that is designated to enjoy the view. We noticed that the deck railing and part of the dock was a little weather-worn the first time but was newly replaced this visit! Happily, the deck railing was lowered so we could see more of the view when sitting outside. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed as well as in the bathrooms, plus all the comforts & extras provided around the home such as games and books. We utilized the kayaks and equipment to paddle to the ocean for two amazing private beach days! We tried to be hyper-careful about the marsh tide schedule but it fluctuated extremely so be careful. (We got a bit stuck in the marsh mud one day and had to paddle back in near dark another evening - opps. But fun adventures and all worked out!) If you're looking for privacy, extreme relaxation and some kayaking, this is the place. I suppose other visitors ventured out to restaurants but we stayed put and enjoyed every minute of solitude. A well-needed reset for us.

This house was everything we needed for our family vacation down to the last detail. Some days we drove to Chincoteague, some days we kayaked to the nearby barrier island, and some days we stayed at the house to relax and catch fish and crabs from the dock. The house was clean and bright with lots of natural light, and the setting was quiet and beautiful. As nature lovers, watching the sun rise over the marsh to the sound of bird song was an added treat. The host was wonderful to deal with--very responsive, answering all our questions promptly and thoroughly. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Fabulous house with amazing views and everything you need. Views are not exaggerated. Easy communication with the host! Definitely an excellent house for a quieter vacation to get teens off of screens!

Awesome place for a couple or small group that likes to be away from crowds. Quiet. Dark. Our 4th time. Hopefully more
