Find your own little Spot O' Sun on Hatteras Island! Tucked away just five lots from the beach in Avon, this charming 3-bedroom, 1-bath cottage offers classic coastal character, comfortable one-level living, and a welcoming atmosphere perfect for smaller families and their four-legged companions.
Inside, colorful coastal touches and comfortable furnishings create a cheerful space to relax after a day by the ocean. The open living and kitchen area makes gathering easy, while the well-equipped kitchen and built-in bar provide everything you need for preparing and sharing your favorite vacation meals.
One of the home's favorite features is the bright and inviting sunroom, perfect for sipping your morning coffee, enjoying a good book, or gathering for games after a day in the sun. Down the hall, three cozy bedrooms offer a comfortable place to recharge for another day of island adventures.
Step outside and enjoy the shaded outdoor area beneath the house, where you can kick back in the hammock, enjoy a little friendly competition with outdoor games, or fire up the charcoal grill for an easy family dinner. When you're ready for the beach, a short stroll through the neighborhood leads to the nearby beach access.
Community Amenities: The Club Hatteras Community Pool and Playground are located at 41156 NC Hwy 12 Avon, NC 27915. The pool is generally open seasonally. Please note that the operation of community pool dates and times may vary dependent on weather and pool management companies.
Around Avon Village: There's plenty to enjoy beyond the beach! Grab fresh local seafood, browse locally owned shops, or cast a line from the historic Avon Fishing Pier. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of nearby ORV beach access ramps or head to the Haulover Day Use Area for easy sound access, watersports, and beautiful views across the Pamlico Sound.
Beach Access: Just a short walk from the house! From Spot O' Sun, follow Dolphin Lane east toward the ocean to the public beach access boardwalk at the end of the street. Follow the walkway over the dunes and onto the beach, approximately 500–750 feet from the home.
With local restaurants, shops, and island attractions close by, Spot O' Sun makes it easy to enjoy the simple pleasures of Hatteras Island living. Bring the family, bring the pups, and settle in for some well-deserved time by the sea!

This little house was perfect for us and our 4 kids. It had everything we could have asked for. Hope to book this house again.

This house is bathed in fun colors and has a wonderfully beach-y feel. It is very close to the beach and has nice amenities just down the street, with coffee shops, fish markets, a grocery store, and some shopping within 10 minutes or less driving. There are walking/biking paths along the main road so if you do want to take a walk/run/ride you could. While we were staying here the ac went out but VACASA was very prompt about sending someone out to diagnose and fix the issue. The house came well equipped with plenty of pots and pans, towels, blankets, and assorted beach items for use. The under-porch (you’ll see from the pictures) was a great place to cool off and feel the breeze but there were some rusty nails in the pebbles which I picked up and disposed of, maybe do a quick scan before walking around barefoot down there. The foot washing station was great and saved on mess in the house.

It was a perfect beach house with lots of bright colors. Having the outdoor faucet to clean off the sand and the sunroom to leave sandy shoes was extremely helpful to keep the sand out of the house. I noticed other reviews said the beach was far away. We thought it was a perfectly normal distance. For those with mobility limitations it would pose a challenge though. The check in/out process was easy. Having the laundry onsite was a huge help. Overall a wonderful family getaway!
