Reverie Safari Lodge, Marloth Park

Great secluded location with little visibility of neighbours - a little close to the main gate/road so some traffic noise, but there was plenty of game visiting the house.

It was a bit cold for the time of year we were there and the heating options weren’t great. The lack of an oven (apart from the little plug in one) was a bit restricting

A lovely private and secure accommodation with great facilities. The place was spotless, well equipped with a full kitchen, reliable Wi-Fi, and the pool area was a real highlight in the heat. Very peaceful and romantic — perfect for a relaxing stay.

During a rainstorm the power went off, which is understandable and not the host’s fault. However, having a small backup battery to run essentials like the fans, Wi-Fi, and a few lights would greatly improve comfort, as the room becomes hot and stuffy with the windows bolted. The outside lights also cannot be turned off, and the bedroom blinds don’t fully block the light at night. Additionally, the room without the en-suite has a roof leak that may need attention.

Being so close to the Kruger Park gate, it was so easy and quick to get in and do a day full of wildlife watching. But even as we sat on their wooden deck in the mornings munching breakfast with kudus, wildbeests, mongoose et al parading past was like experiencing nature so up close and personal. Their recommendations on places to visit and eat at were always perfect. They also told us about the sunset point in Marloth Park itself where we could have a sundowner and watch hippos and deer saunter around the crocodile river. The linen was speck-lessly clean in their very well themed unique bedrooms, with very niche artefacts from all over Africa and Asia adorning them. The kitchen was a wooden delight with all the best of cutlery and cooking support available and a very nice fridge for chilling the beer apart from the preserving food. Sitting under the huge tree in their yard at nights, bryeing the meat and meals on coal, wine on the side and the incredibly cute Bush-babies jumping around above us - if a place can infuse sophisticated luxury into the very heart of nature and wildlife, then their lodge is the ONE!
