Amani Milele (Everlasting Peace)

I booked this place because it’s close to the Kruger park. Even though we had a great time going on safari on the Kruger, the highlight of our trip was definitely this house. When we spread out some appropriate food for the animals, they flock to the house by the dozens. It truly was a surreal experience. Also, when walking along the river during the day, we encountered several giraffes. Honestly, our entire stay was one of the greatest experiences of our life!!

The shower takes some getting used to at first.

Everything was superb. Loads of visits by all sorts of wildlife. Great location. Easy walk to the river.

Leaving

Fantastic property, very spacious and comfortable. Great location within easy walking distance of the river, and a few minutes drive from the shops. Loads of bush babies visiting to eat the banana we left out for them. I liked that the keys are left in a lock-box, its much more convenient than picking up keys from a security office. When we arrived the gas for the hot water geyser was empty, and the house manager was very quick to come over and swap out the gas, even on a Sunday night. Wifi was fast and stable.

There were a few niggling issues with electrics (either we couldnt work out which light switches to use for certain lights, or otherwise bulbs may have needed changing ; some outside lights could only be turned on & off from inside one of the bedrooms which is not ideal when someone wants to switch on the outside lights without disturbing someone else who is sleeping ; we struggled with turning one or two of the aircons on and off), but these are small nit-picky problems that didn't have much impact on our stay overall.

Location fantastic. a bit difficult to find as property number not on main road { House number off the road, other house numbers displayed so missed the house, had to ask neighbour where house was}. A huge range of animals came to be fed, Kudu, Cape Bush Buck, warthogs, Wildebeest, Nagapies, Vervit monkeys, baboons, Giraffe, mongoose & Zebra. The plunge pool was fantastic to cool down in. The air conditioners were an absolute bonus in all rooms plus overhead fans in all rooms were great for sleeping without A/C on. In general a great time was had. Thanks to the manager who was on call & very pleasant.

Advertised as luxury accommodation, did an inspection of house {as we were only advised that an extra R1000 was required for damages deposit just before arrival} found bedroom doors veneer was peeling off, main bathroom en-suite huge walk in shower, only one out of two lights worked, 2nd bathroom was part en-suite & general toilet & shower, also one of two lights working, toilet seat on the floor, {this was immediately taken care of by manager}. The kitchen utensils are in need of replacing, only one frying pan in bad shape, only 6 dinner plates {we booked for 7 guests}. The one fridge was not cooling as door seal had come away from bottom of door {I fixed this myself, but needs resealing correctly}. Showers need to be checked as hot water boiling hot then freezing cold. The manager was fantastic in sorting electricity out, {tripped at municipal board, fixed within 30 mins}. Property needs some TLC.
