The young woman who saved me after travelling for 29 hours

✈️ Epic Arrival After 29 hours of travel, 2 hours stranded in Athens airport going through these new EU procedures and a level of exhaustion normally reserved for mythological quests, I arrived at the hotel at 10:30am. Check‑in was at 3pm, but I figured I may be able to pay for early access. Plot twist: This hotel does not believe in early access. Or flexibility. With no wifi, a phone at 1%, and Greek skills hovering at “functional but tragic,” I relied on human kindness. I commandeered a teenage girl who called the hotel for me. A young woman appeared like a hospitality angel, handed me her phone, and let me speak to management. Management’s response? No early check‑in. No waiting on the grounds. Cleaners are not coming till later in the day. A warm “Welcome! Now please leave.” Until check-in Thankfully, the young woman took pity on my airport‑ravaged face and let me sit under an umbrella by the pool. She deserves a raise, a medal, and possibly a national holiday.( a huge Thank you) 🗝️ 3pm Check‑In At 3pm, instead of a greeting, I got: “The key is in the door.” From the cleaner Luxury vibes only. I rushed in to charge my phone… except I couldn’t. My international adaptor — which has worked in every country on Earth — refused to fit because the outlet wasn’t flush with the wall. A design choice, apparently. So I had: • No phone • No wifi • No gate code • No way to get dinner • No will to live by this stage (don’t take just your cube international charger because you will need a round EU plug to fit into the round cavity). It was a full‑scale disaster but I do take full responsibility in assuming I could get early access for additional payment 🏡 The Room/suite • Booked a room with a private pool. Turns out it was everyone’s pool. • The room itself? Lovely. The bed? Very comfortable. • The shower? A booby trap that drenched me before I even stepped in. • Cooking facilities? Only if your idea of cooking is “not cooking.

Το κατάλυμα ήταν υπέροχο, καθαρό κι ο οικοδεσπότης εξαιρετικός. Μας εξυπηρετήσε με χαρα σε αίτημα μας. Θα έμενα ευχαρίστως ξανά και ξανά.

Τις μεσημεριανές ώρες λίγο φασαρία από άλλη suita αλλά λόγω ηλικίας των παιδιών που έμεναν κάπου τα δικαιολογησα..
