Apartment in Surfers Paradise
Reasons to book
About this apartment rental
Forty-five floors above the Esplanade, with Surfers Paradise Beach directly across the road and the coastline running north. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeps four. Full kitchen, washer and dryer in the apartment, ducted air conditioning, a proper desk. Guests use Meriton's indoor heated pool and spa behind full-height glass, the outdoor pool held at 28 degrees all year, the sauna and the 24-hour gym. Cavill Avenue is a five-minute walk, and the whole apartment is yours.
The Space:
Forty-five floors up, with the beach across the road.
Most Surfers Paradise apartments sell you a walk to the sand. This one sells you a road crossing. Ocean by Meriton stands on the Esplanade, the beachfront road, and this two-bedroom apartment sits on its forty-fifth floor, so the surf is below you and the coastline runs north toward Main Beach. At 45 floors the noise of the strip does not reach you, which is what people do not expect here.
The Space
Open-plan living and dining, floor-to-ceiling glass, and a balcony you will use every morning. The kitchen is a full one: oven, cooktop, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. Two bathrooms, one with a bathtub. Washer and dryer in the apartment, plus a drying rack and iron. Ducted air conditioning and blackout blinds. A cot and travel cot stay here permanently. Nothing is shared.
Sleeping Arrangements
• Main bedroom: queen bed, ocean view, ensuite
• Second bedroom: queen bed, ocean view
• Bathrooms: two, towels and toiletries provided
• Sleeps: four
Work & Connectivity
A dedicated workspace, fast Wi-Fi and a wired ethernet connection, which is rare in holiday stock and the difference between a call that holds and one that drops. For a fortnight here, the laundry, the kitchen and the quiet of a high floor are what make it workable.

• Outdoor pool held at 28 degrees year round, with sun loungers

The Neighbourhood
Downstairs, before you go anywhere. Castaway Coffee Bar is on the ground floor. Level 1 has COAST Beach Bar & Kitchen, Josper wood-fired with a rooftop terrace, and La Calabrese for Italian. Evaiya Spa is in the ground-floor shops.
Eating and drinking. Sandbar at 52 Esplanade is two minutes away for a beachfront breakfast. Seascape Bar & Restaurant runs across three levels for seafood, and Hurricane's Grill does steak with an ocean outlook. Cavill Avenue has Grill'd; BOBs Beer on Elkhorn Avenue is a microbrewery; Benny's Burgers is on Hanlan Street and Longboards Laidback Eatery at Northcliffe Terrace. Worth the short drive: Yamagen at QT Gold Coast, Citrique on Ferny Avenue, Fu Manchu on Chevron Island, and Palette at HOTA, which holds three chef hats.
Beach, and what to do. Surfers Paradise Beach is across the road, patrolled. Budds Beach is calmer, ten minutes north-west. The Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets run along the Esplanade several evenings a week. The observation deck at the top of the Q1 tower is a short walk, and HOTA on Bundall Road has galleries and outdoor performances. Sea World is about ten minutes by car at Main Beach; Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet'n'Wild and Dreamworld are 25 to 30 minutes north.
Getting around. Cavill Avenue G:link station is a short walk, and the tram runs south to Broadbeach, Pacific Fair and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in about ten minutes, north through Main Beach and Southport to Helensvale. Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta is roughly half an hour, Brisbane Airport an hour and a quarter.
Practical. A Coles supermarket handles a weekly shop. Pindara Private Hospital at Benowa has a 24-hour emergency and cardiac centre, and Gold Coast University Hospital at Southport has its own tram station. Griffith University Gold Coast is fifteen minutes north. People First Stadium at Carrara and Cbus Super Stadium at Robina are both an easy drive.
Who It Suits
Two couples who each want a bathroom. A family of four who would rather have a kitchen and a laundry than two hotel rooms. Anyone working from the coast for a month, for the desk and the quiet. Anyone here for a hospital appointment, with Pindara and Gold Coast University Hospital both close. And couples who want to open a door onto the ocean before coffee.
