Escape to the Basil Patch! Relax and unwind at this unique tranquil mountain destination. This elegant holistic retreat is located in a private community ideal for peaceful getaways. Our oasis is located on a private six acre lot near Max Patch in Hot Springs North Carolina. Soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking along the Appalachain Trail, meditate among the leaves, sip coffee on our tranquil porch, or indulge in a good book as you sip wine by the outdoor fire pit. You won't want to leave! Freshly renovated and updated mountain home. Luxurious living space with a farm house kitchen well accommodated for your gourmet dining experience. Two elegant bedrooms with updated and minimalist decor. Several outdoor living spaces. One porch with a screened in seating area for catching up or morning yoga. One porch for admiring the sunset or soaking in a brand new hot tub. The yard boast an ample fire pit for making s'mores and singing along to guitar music. Modern features include Nest thermostat, EUFY digital entrance, Blink home security, and 4K QLED flat screen TV with several streaming services for movie night. Of course we enjoy a good book, perhaps a game of cards, or maybe a puzzle. Private mountain community Please respect the privacy of the neighborhood. The turn into the driveway can be a little sharp if you have a large truck. In the event of snow you must park at base of driveway and walk up (about 50 yards). If you are parked up top and there is snow in the forecast you should move your vehicle to the base of the driveway. Driveway is not plowed. AWD or 4WD recommended when snow is in the forecast. 25 minutes to the town of Hot Springs 50 minutes to Asheville 1 hour to Biltmore

My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and our other plans fell through. We were looking for a private isolated spot in the mountains and found this house. We made a last minute request and were approved. This cabin was perfect for us! Quiet, cozy, hot tub, fire pit. Everything we love. It was perfect for us to unwind, relax and enjoy each other. Max Patch is close and a great easy hike to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains. Highly recommend. Thanks to the host for letting us stay last minute.

We had a great short visit at this property. Two of my kids are hiking the Appalachian Trail and two of us flew down to meet them and give them a break. Very comfortable house for 4. The hot tub was a welcome amenity. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots/pans, glasses etc. As described, the property is very remote. It was a 25 minute drive into Hot Springs to get my kids from the trail and deliver them back to it. If I needed to be back in that area of the country, I would definitely stay there again.

The Basil Patch was wonderful and I can't wait to return! The home is absolutely lovely and cozy. It's clean, decorated so tastefully, and beyond comfortable. The living room has the most comfortable sofa ever (didn't want to leave it!) and a nice TV. The kitchen is well appointed with dishes, cookware, and appliances. The bed was ultra comfy. The bathroom was perfect with an amazing, spacious shower. My favorite part was the screened in porch. I spent most of my time there lounging on the sofa, reading, and staring at the beautiful fall leaves. There is also a large portion of the porch that is not screened in with lots of chairs. The hot tub and fire pit were also quite enjoyable for even more relaxation.
Alex was always quick to respond to my questions and gave great advice about the area. Pay attention to the advice to bring things you need (food, supplies, etc.) as the closest shopping is about 25-30 minutes away. If you plan ahead and bring what you need, it's not even an issue!
The cottage is in the mountains and you take some windy, hilly roads to get there. Just take your time and it's super easy to navigate!
It was fun to take a trip into Hot Springs and visit Big Pillow Brewing, which Alex recommended. Great beer and tacos, and a fun outdoor space with mountain views.
If you want to spend time in quiet, peaceful place that's a bit 'off the grid' and completely surrounded by trees and nature, The Basil Patch is perfect. Exactly what I hoped for when I booked it.
